As part of Al-Qadisiyah University’s efforts to enhance sustainability practices, improve energy management efficiency, and reduce emissions, the university’s Energy ISO team held its second regular meeting, chaired by Prof. Dr. Abbas Sabbar, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department, and attended by all team members alongside a representative from Al-Diwaniyah Governorate.
The meeting covered several key topics regarding the National Initiative to Support Energy and Reduce Emissions and address climate change. The team reviewed Al-Qadisiyah University’s energy management policy to ensure alignment with relevant international standards, contributing to a strong institutional framework for improving energy efficiency and lowering environmental emissions.
During the meeting, the team chair stressed the importance of documenting real-world achievements and projects within the university’s action plan to reflect its commitment to Sustainable Development Goals, particularly initiatives tied to clean energy, climate action, and environmental sustainability.
The meeting also highlighted several ongoing initiatives launched by the university, most notably the installation of solar panel systems across multiple faculties and the expanded adoption of eco-friendly solutions and technologies on campus.
In a related context, the chair and members of the Energy ISO team conducted a field tour to review the electric vehicle launch initiative at Al-Qadisiyah University. This practical step aims to support the transition toward more sustainable transportation, conserve energy consumption, and reduce emissions caused by traditional campus transit.
These steps align with Al-Qadisiyah University’s strategic drive to turn sustainability and energy management concepts into practical, measurable, and documentable projects, boosting its readiness to meet international energy management standards while supporting environmental protection and sustainable development goals.
